Let's discover together the skills of the new Massenza MI55 for deep water wells
The first construction site of this MI55 on Astra 8x6 EURO 6 Truck for water wells up to 1400m took place on the island of Cyprus and consists of drilling deep wells for the Geological Survey Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment of Cyprus
Massenza MI55 is equipped with a 9,40m (30,8ft) head stroke and 60tons (12000lbs) capacity Mast and a 755HP (563kW) at 1800RPM Caterpillar Stage V Rig Deck Engine.
The whole Rig can be controlled through an Hydraulic Control Panel on a swiveling arm with adjustable height for perfect operator visibility.
With a Rotary Head that can reach a torque up to 23826Nm (17573ft lb) or a maximum speed of 124Rpm with floating spindle and shock absorber, this MI55 is also equipped with a side parking for free passage of the winch and a tilting device for fast and easy drill pipes loading.
This MI55 is completed with a cutting edge fully automatic system for drill pipes loading and unloading operations with an hydraulic rod support platform that assure a complete autonomy up to 340m (1115ft)
Work operations are simple and intuitive with the automatic charger arm with indipendent radio remote control which guarantee a total safety and without effort.
Another interesting feature is the Feed System with cylinders and high resistance chains, a pull-up up to 55tons (122687lbs) and a pull-down up to 30 tons (66072lbs)
The hydraulic double clamp has a maximum passage diameter of 520mm (20.5") and an automatic screwing and unscrewing system for the rods with hydraulic centralizers.
The ATLAS-COPCO air compressor can reach a 24 Bar (2400kPa) maximum pressure and a maximum free air delivery of 36 m³/min (1271cfm) and the air lubricator can reach 30Bar (435 PSI) Maximum pressure and a 24litres (6,3 US gal) oil tank for a 17 kg/h (4,5 Us gal) flow
With a Triplex Water/Mud pump with a Maximum capacity of 109 l/min (28,8 GPM) and a maximum pressure of 70 Bar (1015 Psi) and a main winch with 140m (459 ft) of steel rope Ø 22 mm (7/8”), a direct pull of 13000 kg (26000 lbs) and a max speed 42 m/min (137 ft/min) this MI55 reaches the top of versatility
The Handling Winch has 30m (98.5 ft) of steel cable Ø 12 mm (1/2") with a direct pull 3.160 Kg (6969 lbf) and the telescopic Jib-Boom has 180° rotation and 800mm (31 1/2”) extension with a dedicated service winch
To conclude, the infrared safety barrier of this Rig has an automatic block of pull-down, head rotation and ROM system for EC certification.
