The casing drive system, as seen in the video, is used when drilling with a hammer at the bottom of the hole and in inconsistent soil. Under such conditions the possibility that the borehole collapses is very high. The solution adopted so far is to use a double rotation head, one to drive the drill and one to guide the casing which is therefore positioned during the drilling. This solution is however very expensive both in terms of initial investment (two rotary heads instead of one), both in terms of drilling costs (greater fuel consumption), and in terms of maintenance (spare parts for two rotary heads, more powerful engines). etc.).
With the dragging system, instead, a single head is used for the rods and for the casing. The system is very simple and the advantages are really remarkable:
• The result is the same as that obtained with the double rotary head
• The rig is smaller and lighter
• Initial investment costs are significantly lower
• Drilling costs are significantly reduced
