Big news at Massenza Drilling Rigs: a Mi12 drill rig with a new multiporpose rotary head specially designed to embrace a new wide range of customers who need to carry out a variety of job sites, from deep core drilling to large diameter borehole wells.
Massenza's Mi12 drill rigs are very versatile, used in various fields of application, such as geotechnical investigations, dewatering, exploration, geothermal, rock coring, water wells to depths greater than 1,000 feet.
This new machine was custom-designed (not a new request for Massenza Drilling Rigs, as we offer so many options to meet what the customer needs) for a customer working on a mine site.
The requisition for this drill was to have a machine as multi-functional as possible. Initially, this customer will be using down the hole hammer to go through fractured rock and then begin rock core.
This will allow the customer to analyze the debris in the shortest possible time and deepen the investigation through coring drilling.
After a very demanding and time-consuming assembly given the special nature of the project, our technicians carried out the appropriate testing and function check ups on the rig before it was delivered directly to the customer.
Features of the 8 speed head of the new Massenza Drilling Rigs rotary head:
This new Massenza multipurpose rotary head allows any type of drilling (for water wells, core drilling, micropiling, geothermal, seismic, etc.).
It is characterized by high performance in both torque and rotation.
This Massenza Mi12 drill rig features a further innovation, the hydraulic double clamp, where the upper one slides vertically.
This is the MS300 model, made entirely of steel. Driven by 7 hydraulic cylinders, it can clamp, screw and unscrew drill rods, tricones and casing pipes.

This specific new Mi12 drill rig has the following features:
The customer had the opportunity to view the new drilling rig at our Massenza company in Fidenza (Parma - Italy), together with their dealer, to get a preview of all the details of the machine and to check the design project before delivery.
One of our specialized technicians travelled directly to the job site of the first job with our Mi12 in action, to carry out training and commissioning of the rig, a service that can be included in the Massenza drill rig purchase contract.
In this way, our in-house team provided operators on site with all the technical knowledge and practical skills to make the most of the machine's capabilities.
The service also includes the demonstration of routine and extraordinary maintenance of the entire drilling rig.
